Every word opens a world: Ignite your imagination with a single word and let the Imagination Launcher and Idea Catcher transform your creative sparks into endless explorations and ideas.
Inspiration
Inspired by Albert Einstein: “Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere,” we see imagination as the force driving progress. Creativity, isn’t just for the few; it’s a spark waiting in everyone. Our aim was to create a tool accessible to all, regardless of age or background.
What it does
It’s simple: Start with the first word that popps into your mind. That word or phrase ignites the Imagination Launcher, immersing you in a canvas of endless scenarios and ideas, sparking creativity.
But it doesn’t stop there: Each scenario comes with an open-ended question, inviting you to explore the landscape of your imagination. “What secrets does the forest hide?” “What creatures roam the depths of your ocean?” These questions prompt you to explore, to dream, and to create.
The Idea Catcher assists in capturing and refining discussion themes into larger ideas, transforming them into visions that inspire.
How we built it
The development of Imagination Launcher began with our core objective: to foster imagination through interactive continous storytelling, simple, accessible to everyone. We proceeded with “programming” the core chat widget Imagination Launcher and the features Idea Catcher and Vision Canvas. We adjusted the model’s parameters to the specific task of generating engaging stories and thought-provoking questions from a single word. The fine-tuning process was iterative, with multiple rounds of testing and adjustments based on our liking of the result.
Challenges we ran into
Crafting the perfect balance between a broad, inviting canvas and detailed engagement was a key challenge. Another challenge was finetuning and ensuring the diversity and creativity of the generated content which ensures continuation. We wanted to avoid repetitive or generic stories, which required careful fine-tuning of the model’s settings. Additionally we had to think about handling ambiguous or abstract input words. The app needed to be robust enough to craft a story from even the most abstract concepts, which sometimes led to unexpected or off-topic outputs.
Accomplishments
We are particularly proud of Imagination Launcher’s ability to spark creativity in users. We ourselves had so much fun playing with it. Above all, the app stimulated our own creativity and imagination. In everyday life, you don’t often have the opportunity to let go completely and indulge in daydreams, like back in childhood. We want to share this feeling of joy and excitement with others.
What we learned
Throughout the development process, we learned a great deal about the nuances of creativity in AI. The importance of a very good prompt and understanding of concepts became clear early on, as it directly impacts the quality and variety of the app’s output. But ultimately it is not about the tool or prompt its about how creative you can get with it.
What’s next for Imagination Launcher
We hope that we can continue to develop and improve the Imagination launcher. It would be great to add new features. We are especially looking forward to feedback from real users. On the one hand, which stories have been created with it and where their creative ideas have led them. And suggestions for improvement and ideas for new features.

My son, his girlfriend, and I created this app for the Amazon Hackathon at devpost. It’s a pity we didn’t win anything there, but it was an interesting experience, resulting in a fantastic app, a very cool video, and a lot of fun preparing our submission.
